Nine districts likely to receive heavy rainfall; orange alert sounded in three districts, yellow alert in nine districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that 12 districts in Kerala are likely to receive heavy rain in the coming hours. An orange alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram districts today. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts today.

The orange alert will remain in place for Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts tomorrow as well. A yellow alert has been sounded in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts tomorrow. The IMD also stated that other districts will receive light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday.

Wind gusting at a speed of 45 to 55 kmph will prevail over Central West Arabian Sea and Central East Arabian Sea today. The speed of the wind can go up to 65 kmph.
