THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has issued an order with guidelines related to the salary challenge of government employees. It is believed that the efforts to rejuvenate Wayanad, which was hit by a series of landslides, will cost more than one thousand crore rupees.

The government had earlier requested the employees to contribute 5 days' salary to help the affected people in Wayanad. While not mandatory, the Chief Minister has urged all employees to participate in this charitable effort, stressing that every contribution is valuable and no one should opt out of this opportunity to help those in need. Employees should contribute at least five days' salary. The concerned DDOs should obtain a consent form from the employees to collect the amount. The amount received should be credited to a specially opened treasury account. The salary amount is calculated based on the gross salary for the month of August this year.

Employees can contribute their salary for five days in three instalments. Additionally, those who wish to donate more can do so in up to ten instalments, with a minimum of two days' salary per month.

In a recent meeting with service organizations, the Chief Minister had proposed a 10-day salary contribution from employees to support the Wayanad relief efforts. However, after discussions with union representatives, a consensus was reached to contribute five days' salary instead.
