THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain has been predicted in the state today. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places.
According to IMD, there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Ernakulam in the next three hours.
The low pressure formed over Lakshadweep has turned into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area (WPM) over the Central East Arabian Sea near the Goa-Karnataka coast. The low pressure moving in the northwest direction is likely to intensify into an extreme low pressure in the next three days. A new low pressure may form in the South West Bay of Bengal by tomorrow. As a result, light/moderate rain is likely to occur over Kerala for the next week.
Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam tomorrow. Orange alert has been announced in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki day after tomorrow and yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur.
Fishing banned
The IMD has informed that there should be no fishing in Kerala-Lakshadweep coast till 14/10/2024 and in Karnataka till 12/10/2024.
