MALAPPURAM: Youth League State President P. K. Firos has responded to the arrest of his brother P. K. Bujair in a drug case. Bujair was arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer and possessing narcotics. Firos’s response came after CPM leader Bineesh Kodiyeri questioned whether he would resign from his position to set an example.

“Following my brother Bujair’s arrest, widespread allegations are being raised against me. But my brother is an individual, and I am an individual. He has no connection with my politics; in fact, he has always criticised and mocked my political views. This can be clearly seen if you check his social media accounts,” Firos told the media.

“My politics and his politics are entirely different. Families can have such differences. If someone commits a crime — even if it’s my brother — they must be punished,” he said, adding that he is being unfairly targeted for his sibling’s actions. Firos also alleged that a CPM worker was behind the case.
