ALAPPUZHA: Major criticisms are being showered against former minister G Sudhakaran following his announcement of contesting in Ambalappuzha as an independent candidate, after severing ties with the CPM. Sudhakaran is also facing severe criticism in the cyberspace. In the meanwhile, protest banners were placed near his house. The posters describe him as a class traitor for betraying his community. The banners were placed in the name of Bhagavathikkal Sakhakkal. The Punnapra police have arranged security for his house following the protests.

CPM Ambalappuzha area secretary C Shamji said the other day that not even five people will leave the CPM and that will circulate that Sudhakaran is a political fox. He added that Sudhakaran was raised by the workers of Alappuzha and that he is greedy for power.

Sudhakaran made a crucial announcement yesterday after staying away from the party for a long time. He said that he will contest as an independent candidate in Ambalappuzha, and that he has not abandoned the party's principles and ideology and will not seek support from anyone. Sudhakaran had made it clear that he will not say anything against the Communist Party in the elections and will not give speeches anywhere.
