KOCHI: The Kerala High Court sought an explanation from the collector and corporation in connection with the water logging issue in Kochi city. The court has asked to submit a report before Tuesday. The case will be considered again on that day. The court said that if the corporation is not able to find a solution to the water logging issue, the collector can intervene under the Disaster Prevention Act and take urgent steps on Mullassery canal.
The Kochi Corporation and the district administration spent 44 crore in four years to solve the water logging. But, the expected result was not obtained. Areas including KSRTC stand were submerged in water in the rains that lashed the city the other day. The people of the city say that the reason for the water logging is the blockage of drains and canals. They said the intervention of the authorities to solve the issue is not effective.
