Decision on portfolios of CPM ministers will be taken today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision regarding the portfolios of the new CPM ministers will be taken today. With the departure of KK Shailaja, there is a lot of curiosity regarding who will be the new health minister. Everyone is looking at who will be in charge of the key departments of finance, industry, local government, co-operation and tourism. The matter will be discussed at the CPM state secretariat meeting on Wednesday.

At the same time, the CPI has come to a rough understanding regarding the portfolios of its ministers. K Rajan will be the Revenue minister. While P Prasad is likely to be given the portfolios of agriculture, GR Anil is expected to become the minister for food and civil supplies. Chinchurani will take over the animal husbandry department.

The Kerala Congress(M) has asked for one of public works, higher education and irrigation departments. The irrigation department is currently handled by Janata Dal-S. The transport department is likely to be taken from the NCP.

Abdurahman, who won as an independent candidate, may be given the Wakf and minority welfare that was handled by KT Jaleel handled last time.
