NEW DELHI: Covid vaccine will be available to the entire population of the country by the end of this year, Dr N K Arora, head of the vaccine administration, informed this to the national media. He said the availability of vaccines has now increased and the number of vaccination centres will be increased.

5.6 crore doses of vaccine were given monthly till May, but now is able to give 10 to 12 crore. The target is to increase this to 16-18 crore by next month. He also said that it would be raised to 30 crore by September. Our goal is to make the vaccine available and to establish responsible vaccination centres. However, it is the responsibility of the states, reminded Dr Arora.

If examined the count of the last three days, the number of Covid cases in the country has increased again after a gap of 56 days. Vaccination needs to be accelerated further to meet the target by December. The head of the vaccine administration said that this is necessary to prevent the third wave. For this, 8.7 million vaccinations are given every day.

Dr Randeep Guleria, head of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi had warned that the country would face a third wave of Covid in six to eight weeks. Concerns about a third wave have now increased with a small increase in the Covid rates.
