Mullaperiyar dam water level nearing 136 feet, alert to be issued if water level reaches 140 feet

IDUKKI: Following the heavy rains, the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam is inching towards 136 feet. The current water level is 135.80 feet. The maximum storage capacity is 142 feet. The first alert will be issued if the water level reaches 140 feet.

A third alert will be issued and the shutters will be opened if the water level reaches 142 feet. The District Collector has directed various departments to take necessary precautions in case if the spillway shutters have to be raised.
