Manjeswaram election bribery case: K Surendran appears before crime branch

KASARGOD: BJP state chief K Surendran appeared before the crime branch in the Manjeswaram election bribery case. Surendran appeared at the Kasargod guest house at 11 am in connection with the interrogation in the case.

The case is that he threatened and bribed BSP candidate K Sundara to withdraw his nomination papers. The complaint was lodged by Left candidate V V Ramesh of the constituency.

Sundara had given statement to the investigating team that he was given Rs 2.5 lakh and a mobile phone of Rs 15,000. The police had seized Rs 2 lakh from Sundara. The investigating team took into custody his mobile phone.


Surendran is the lone accused in the case. He has been charged under sections 171 B and E of IPC.
