KOCHI: The Kerala government has informed the High Court that it will open 175 new beverage outlets in the state and that the recommendation of Bevco was under the consideration of the Excise Department. The government informed this while the court was considering a contempt petition regarding the crowd in front of the Bevco outlets.
The government also informed that it was considering opening walk-in outlets in the state. The high court directed that beverage outlets should not be a nuisance to the public.
Justice Devan Ramachandran said that beverage outlets should function in a manner that does not disturb the public and that there are many such complaints before the court. He also said that the court cannot ignore the suffering of the people.
