Girl lodges sexual abuse complaint against brother for scolding her over excessive use of phone

false-case

MALAPPURAM: A girl has lodged a false harassment complaint against her brother for questioning her activity on social media. The incident took place within the limits of Malappuram Changaramkulam police station. The girl complained that her brother constantly abused her while she was a minor. The forensic officers who were suspicious of the complaint conducted a scientific examination and proved that the complaint was false.

The schoolgirl was given a phone by her parents for an online class. The girl then started accounts on social media. The brother found out that the girl was making too many friends on social media and scolded her. The girl's family banned her from using the phone. Outraged by this, the girl lodged a harassment complaint against her brother to Childline.

Childline activists handed over the complaint to the police and on the instructions of the district police chief, CI Basheer launched an investigation. Based on the girl's complaint, the police registered a case against her brother and produced him before the magistrate. After this, when the girl's statement was recorded, the police found the discrepancy and took the girl to a psychologist.

The girl revealed the truth during counseling. The medical examination revealed that the girl was not a victim of torture. Investigators said they decided to investigate the case scientifically because of the large number of such false complaints.
