THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As Covid-19 transmission is intensifying, restrictions are being tightened in the capital city. The government has decided to adopt new ways as it enters the C Category. Syndromic management will be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram from today as one of the two tests positive. Syndromic management is the practice of considering symptomatic as patients and entering quarantine without testing. Such people do not need to be confirmed to be positive.
People with symptoms should consider themselves positive and strictly adhere to the seven-day quarantine. Those who are at risk for serious illness should be tested and treated in a timely manner. The new methods have been adopted as per the action plan of the health department. A meeting of the chiefs of local bodies will be convened today to decide on more things. Ministers from various departments will also attend the meeting. Plans are afoot to open more CFLTCs and strengthen field hospitals.
The emphasis is on resistance between the clusters and micro-containment zones. Special beds will be arranged for Covid from taluk hospitals to medical colleges. Government hospitals will cooperate with private hospitals after 70 per cent of their capacity. A decision has been taken to set up an oxygen war room. There will be strict restrictions in the capital city from today. C category restrictions came into effect in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday onwards.
