Didn’t agree to take bribe, mental harassment; mystery in RTO official’s suicide, says family

suicide

MANANTHAVADY: A family has alleged mystery in the death of an RTO official, who had hanged herself. The dead has been identified as Sindhu (42) of Edavaka Ellumandam, a senior clerk in the sub-RTO office in Mananthavady. She was found hanging at her brother’s house at around 8 am on Wednesday. The family has alleged that the mental harassment by her co-workers was the reason for her suicide.

Sindhu had said that she was isolated by her co-workers as she did not agree to take bribe at the office. They all hated her for this. She was afraid of losing her job, alleged the family.

Meantime, Mananthavady joint RTO said that there were no issues or disputes with Sindhu at the office. Sindhu had been an employee at the Mananthavady sub-RTO for the past nine years. She was differently-abled and unmarried. The cause of death is not clear yet, said the police. She is the daughter of Agasthi and late Alice. She is survived by four siblings namely Jose, Shyni, Bindhu and Noble.
