k-rail

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The K Rail protest is intensifying in the state again after an interval. K Rail officials informed that laying of survey stones would continue today with the support of the police. In Kannur, stones have to be laid from Chala to Thalassery. These places will be surveyed today. Meantime, the locals protesting and the opposition parties including the congress said they will prevent the officials coming for the survey.

The protesters uprooted the survey stones laid in Kannur yesterday. There were also strong protests in the capital city against the K Rail Survey. The locals blocked the officials who came for laying the stones at Karichara in Kazhakoottam. Strong protests were witnessed in the area. Congress workers have joined the locals in the protest.

In the meantime, there was a conflict between the protesters and the police. Some were injured in the police action. More protesters reached the spot after knowing about it.

The police manhandled the protesters. One of them protested by lying on the ground. He said police beat him without any provocation. The laying of stones was stopped following the protest. The survey officers returned from the area.

The laying of stones resumed after a gap. It has to be noticed that the laying of stones suspended for a month resumed after the CPM party congress.
