Thrikkakkara gold smuggling: Corporation vice-chairman's son spent Rs 65 lakh, decisive information out

KOCHI: Decisive information has surfaced in the Thrikkakkara gold smuggling case. The investigation team has identified more people who have spent money for the gold smuggling. Currently, two of them are being questioned.

The investigation team has found that Shabin, son of Thrikkakkara municipal corporation vice-chairman A A Ibrahimkutty, has spent Rs 65 lakhs for the gold smuggling. Shabin is the second accused in the case. A detailed investigation is in progress about the smuggling via other airports carried out by Sirajuddin, the main accused in the case.

Earlier, on April 24, the customs in Nedumbassery airport had seized 2.26 kilogram of gold from a cargo from Dubai, in the name of Thrikkakkara Thuruthummel Enterprises. Shabin is a partner in the company. The gold was found hidden inside a meat grinder on an Air India flight.
