BENGALURU: After Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, the loudspeaker row has been raging in Karnataka as well. A group of Sri Ram Sena activists had come forward chanting Hanuman Chalisa on Monday morning, in protest against the Azaan in mosques. Following which, the state has been on heavy alert.

The programme was inaugurated by Sri Ram Sena founder Pramod Muthalik at a temple in the Mysuru district at 5 am. Pramod claimed that the chanting of Hanuman Chalisa and Suprabhata prayers were performed at more than 1,000 temples against Azaan in mosques.

Security has been tightened across the state following fears that the issue could lead to communal violence. Muthalik has said that the activists will intensify their prayer campaigns at temples in coming days.

“Azaan is against the constitution and law. Patients, students are troubled by the Azaan offered early in the morning. Congress has made Muslims to feel that they are above the law. Congress has also created fear of Muslims. Law must be upheld and no one is above law”, Pramod alleged.

The activists also raised the slogans of Jai Sri Ram, Jain Hanuman and Bharat Mata Ki Jai amid the prayers. The prayers which began at 5 am went on till 6 am.

The state had been slowly coming out from a series of incidents following the hijab row, Bajrang Dal activist’s murder and Hubballi communal violence. However, the situation is likely to get tensed once again.
