BANGKOK: The Union Sports Ministry has announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for the Indian team that made history by winning its maiden title in the Thomas Cup Badminton Championship. The announcement was made by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. India won its maiden title by defeating defending champions Indonesia 3-0 in the final of the Thomas Cup today. Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and Lakshya Sen led India to victory over 14-time champions Indonesia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian team on its historic achievement. 'The Indian badminton team has scripted history! The entire nation is elated by India winning the Thomas Cup!
