NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched raids in seven locations, including the residences and offices of former union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and his son. Raids are underway in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Shivaganga, Tamil Nadu. The raid is being carried out in connection with a case against Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram.
A fresh case has been registered against Karti Chidambaram over alleged foreign remittances between 2010-14. An extensive raid has been launched as part of it. Currently, Karti Chidambaram is under investigation in a number of cases, including receiving Rs 305 crore as foreign funds during Chidambaram’s tenure as finance minister and for approving the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) for INX Media. Karti is also a Lok Sabha member from Tamil Nadu.
