Dispute over treatment cost by hospitals causes delay in implementing MEDISEP scheme

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The MEDISEP scheme, a group medical insurance scheme for state employees and pensioners have not been implemented since disputes regarding the treatment cost of some diseases have not been decided.

The government's decision was to start the project on July 1 but almost 20 super-speciality hospitals in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are not agreeing. Although Finance Minister held discussions with several hospitals, it was futile. The project cannot be started as the list of hospitals were not finalized. The government may compromise if hospitals continue their disgreement. The final decision will be taken after consulting with the Chief Minister.
