THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash the state today. Yellow alert has been sounded in Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod. There is no ban on fishing in the Kerala coast.

The Central Meteorological Department said heavy rain is likely to lash at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam in the next three hours and moderate rain in other districts.

Heavy rain has been predicted tomorrow also. Yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram. The low pressure over Madhya Pradesh has turned into a cyclone and the monsoon track has started moving towards the north, causing rains in the state.
