Raid at Arpita Mukherjee’s flat, Rs 15 crore seized; Cash worth Rs 40 crore recovered so far

KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly raided a second flat of former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee’s aide Arpita Mukherjee in connection with the SSC recruitment scam. According to reports, cash worth more than Rs 15 crore has been recovered from her flat.

The ED conducted raids at 15 places. So far, around Rs 40 crore has been recovered. Earlier, the ED officials had seized Indian currencies worth Rs 21.9 crore, in addition to foreign currencies worth Rs 76 lakhs and unaccounted gold ornaments from Mukherjee's Tollygunge flat. She had revealed that the money seized from her house belonged to Partha Chatterjee.

Former Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested in connection with an illegal recruitment scam in government educational institutions embezzling crores. During the time of the scam, Chatterjee had served as the education minister of the state.
