GUWAHATI: A major accident was averted after the plane skidded off runway while trying to take off. The incident happened early Friday morning at the Jorhat Airport in Assam. Indigo’s Kolkata flight skidded off the runway and a pair of its wheels got stuck in the mud. None of the passengers sustained injuries. A special expert team has been entrusted to probe the incident. Reports said no technical faults were found in an initial inspection.

There was a technical glitch in the Spice Jet flight during take-off at the Kandla airport in Gujarat the other day. The take-off was aborted after the warning system went off. This is the ninth time in 40 days that a technical fault has been detected in the Spice Jet aircraft. As the problems persisted, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) took action against SpiceJet. Their services have been cut for two months. DGCA has suggested that only fifty percent of services should be operated during this period. An inspection by the DGCA found that the safety precautions and maintenance of the Spice Jet were inadequate.
