THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely to lash the state on Sunday. Yellow alert has been declared in seven districts namely Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram.
The heavy rainfall in Kerala is due to the presence of a cyclonic vortex in the mid-southern Bay of Bengal. According to the meteorological department, heavy rains are likely in the state till August 2. Isolated heavy showers are also likely from August 1 to 3.
