THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Although the rain has eased slightly, there is still concern in the state. A heavy landslide in Ponmudi in Thiruvananthapuram disrupted traffic. The landslide occurred on the road near Pudukkad Estate. Due to this, more than 100 workers of the estate are isolated in layams (line houses). The fire force is not able to reach the spot. Meanwhile, there was an accident at Nadukani Pass in Malappuram as a tree fell on top of the vehicles. The accident happened around 10 am. The passengers were not injured.

The heavy rains that have been continuing for the last three days in the state have eased slightly, but alert warnings have been issued in many places. Five dams are on red alert- Ponmudi, Lower Periyar, Kallarkutty, Irattayar and Kundala dams. Peringalkuth, Sholayar Meenkara and Mangalam dams are on orange alert. Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area, more water is flowing into Idukki and Kakki dams. Blue Alert has been declared in both the dams. Minister Roshi Augustine has informed that if the water level continues to rise, Idukki Dam may be opened.
