THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid the severe financial crisis in the state, an amount of Rs 3.22 crore has been sanctioned to buy brand new Innova Crysta for ten ministers. Crysta is priced at Rs 32.22 lakhs. The Department of Tourism issued an order allocating money to purchase ten vehicles, pointing out that the existing vehicles of the Tourism Department as part of the State Hospitality are insufficient. It is the Department of Tourism that allocates vehicles to the ministers. With this, the ministers should return the old vehicle they are using to the tourism department. Due to the financial crisis, the finance department had opposed the purchase of ten vehicles. The Finance Department has asked the Tourism Department to submit a file documenting the use of existing vehicles. Considering the demand of the ministers, the finance department has given permission to buy five vehicles. Meanwhile, with the approval of the Chief Minister, the file for the purchase of 10 vehicles was approved by the Cabinet meeting.
