Alco Scan, a device to prevent accidents due to drunk driving in the state, will soon become a part of the Kerala Police.
During vehicle inspections by police, the device will facilitate the checking of alcohol or other intoxicants without having to go to medical centres. Through this scheme, saliva testing will be implemented for the first time in the country. The plan is to provide this type of vehicle, which is used by police in foreign countries, in all the districts of the state. The scheme will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on August 30.
