Airlines hike ticket prices as expats plan to return after Onam

MALAPPURAM: The airlines have hiked ticket prices eyeing the return of non-residents who came home for a short holiday to celebrate Onam. There is a significant rise in ticket prices for 10 days from today. The price will be less from September 20 onwards. The rise in fares is more in Saudi and UAE sectors, which have a large number of expatriate passengers. Fares to Qatar are on the high for some time.

The rates from Kozhikode-Doha is high. Budget airline Air India Express charges Rs 38,000 for a ticket. The lowest rate this week is Rs 33,000. Meantime, there is a ticket from Doha to Kozhikode for Rs 9,000. There is an Air India Express ticket from Karipur to Jeddah, which has many expatriates, on the 14th of this month. Rs 47,000 should be paid. There is a ticket from Jeddah to Karipur for Rs 17,800.

Air India Express charges Rs 26,848 from Kozhikode-Abu Dhabi route today. Meantime, there is a ticket from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode for Rs 6,718.
