Court grants bail to actress Jacqueline Fernandez who was accused in Rs 200 crore extortion case

NEW DELHI: Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been granted interim bail in Rs 200 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Delhi Patiala court granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. The actress was present in the court in connection with the case. The case will be heard again on October 22. The actress has been named in the chargesheet filed by the ED in the case. Following this, she was interrogated for eight hours.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar is accused of extorting Rs 215 crore from the wife of a businessman in Delhi through spoof calls. While Sukesh was in Delhi jail, he extorted money by pretending to be an official of the Prime Minister's Office, Law Ministry and Home Ministry and promised help to grant bail to jailed businessman.

According to Delhi Police, conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar gave gifts worth Rs 7.12 crore to Jacqueline, including jewellery, 65 pairs of shoes and 32 bags. Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi was also questioned by Delhi Police after her relationship with Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Nora Fatehi had ended her relationship with him after realizing his criminal background. Jaqueline continued the relationship despite knowing this which led to her involvement in the case. ED had confiscated the assets of the actress worth Rs 7 crore.
