THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has handed over the compensation amount to the eight-year-old girl who was humiliated by a pink police officer in Attingal. Following the direction from the High Court, the government deposited Rs 1,75,000 in the account of the child and rural SP. The court had directed the government to remove the police officer who misbehaved with the girl from law and order duties and to pay compensation to the girl. The court also directed the state to pay Rs 25,000 to the court. The government will recover the compensation amount from the police officer who insulted the child.

The incident took place on August 27, 2021, when the girl and her father came to see a large cargo being taken to VSSC at Moonumukku junction. Pink police officer Rejitha humiliated the father and daughter in public by accusing them of stealing her mobile phone. The phone was later recovered from Rejitha’s bag.
