KOCHI: The CBI on Thursday quizzed senior bureaucrat M Sivasankar in connection with the Life Mission corruption case. Sivasankar, who appeared at the CBI headquarters in Kochi at 10:30 in the morning, was released after nearly eight hours.
The CBI had prepared a questionnaire based on the statements of Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case and others. The allegation against Sivasankar is that he took a huge bribe in awarding the contract to build flats under the Life Mission project. Swapna had alleged that the UAE consulate officials and Sivasankar had split the bribe money among themselves.
Swapna and Sandeep Nair are also the accused in the case. It is alleged that the Rs 1 crore found by the NIA in Swapna's bank locker was a bribe to be given to Sivasankar. The CBI had questioned Swapna for the second time the other day.
