Indian e-commerce platform overtakes Amazon in sales, second only to Flipkart

Nowadays, the number of people using online shopping sites has increased exponentially. More and more people are relying on online sites for shopping as it helps them avoid the hassle of visiting the stores and avoid the rush. Moreover, most of the sites have prepared a barrage of offers for the customers. Although most people choose platforms like Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra, as per the latest reports, the Indian platform 'Meesho' is topping sales this year.

According to the reports, 'Meesho' has overtaken e-commerce giant Amazon and is only second to Flipkart in India's e-commerce sector. Meesho accounted for 21 percent of the total sales during the festive season. Flipkart has a 49 percent sales share.

Meesho was brought to the fore by a sale held from September 23 to 27 under the name Mega Blockbuster Sale. With this, Meesho was able to increase its market value. Meesho has achieved a growth of 68 percent compared to last year and received 33.4 million orders in the 'Mega Blockbuster Sale'.

As many as 80 million people have purchased goods online for this festive season. E-commerce companies in the country have generated sales of around Rs 40,000 crore during this period. This is 27 percent more than the previous year.
