Governor withdraws 15 Senate members of Kerala University, who were nominated by him

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an unusual move from the Governor, he has disqualified the 15 Senate members of Kerala University who were nominated by him. The move comes after these members kept away from the Senate meeting called yesterday.

The Governor sent a letter to the Vice Chancellor saying that the 15 Senate members are disqualified from Saturday onwards. Five of those disqualified were also Syndicate members.

The Senate meeting was called to decide on the representatives for the Search Committee to appoint the next Vice-Chancellor. However, in the 91-member Senate, only 13 members attended the meeting including the Vice Chancellor. Though there are 13 members nominated by the Governor, only two of them turned up for the Senate meeting.
