NEW DELHI: India will not travel to Pakistan to take part in the 2023 Asia Cup cricket tournament, the ACC secretary said. Jay Shah, who is also the BCCI president, made this clear at the 91st BCCI Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai today. He also mentioned that the Asia Cup tournament will be held at a neutral venue.

“It’s the government that decides over the permission of our team visiting Pakistan so we won’t comment on that but for the 2023 Asia Cup, it is decided that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue. I am saying this as ACC President. We [India] can’t go there [to Pakistan], they can’t come here. In the past also, Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue.”, Shah said.

India last played Pakistan in the 2005-2006 season. Under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, India played three Tests and five ODIs then. During 2012-13, Pakistan participated in three T20 matches and some ODIs in India. Pakistan last visited India in 2016 for the T20 World Cup.

India and Pakistan will next face each other in the T20 World Cup on October 23.
