THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has accepted the cabinet's recommendation to convene a special assembly session from December 5. The main aim of the assembly is to introduce the ordinance to remove the Governor from the chancellor post of state universities.
The cabinet meeting had earlier approved the ordinance related to removing governor from the chancellor post. It was then sent to Governor for approval but he did not sign it. Even if the bill is passed by the assembly, the Governor needs to sign it for it to become law. Delay in signing the bill is likely to lead to legal action.
At the same time, the Governor will not issue a show cause notice to Veterinary University VC. The Governor is of the stance that he will take a decision after the High Court verdict on the petitions against issuing notices to other VCs come.
