Thrikkakara gang rape case; Circle Inspector PR Sunu suspended, action taken as per Commissioner’s report

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused in Thrikkakara gang rape case, Circle Inspector, PR Sunu, has been suspended. The action was taken on the basis of the report by the Commissioner. The report says that Sunu has relations with anti-social elements. The Kozhikode Commissioner will give the order under the instruction of the DGP.

PR Sunu was taken into custody from the police station by Thrikkakara police. Sunu, who is the station inspector at Beypore coastal station had reported for duty today morning. When this became controversial, he was asked by the ADGP to take leave for one week. His suspension came after this.

The Circle Inspector reported for duty when departmental action is about to begin. Sunu is accused in six criminal cases including that of rape. He said that he joined for duty because the authorities were convinced of his innocence.

Sunu accused that the case against him is fabricated and that he does not know the woman. As new controversy erupted the DGP has ordered reexamination of every case in which Sunu is involved.
