Two arrested for drug peddling through Telegram app

arrested-

KOCHI: Excise has nabbed the key members of a gang that was selling drugs through 'Telegram'. Bipin Mohan (32) of Nanimula house in Kangarappadi Millumpadi and Ajith (23) of Puthanpurakkal house in Mundar in Kottayam's Kallara were caught by the Ernakulam Range Excise. Seven grams of MDMA were seized from the accused.

There are indications that many people bought and used drugs from them. The investigation has been extended to clients. The gang used Kakkanad as a base to sell large quantities of drugs. The deal was to stay alternately in different hotels. It was difficult to trace the accused as they booked rooms in the names of many people and stayed for just one day, then moved to the next place and used different mobile numbers.

On the basis of receiving secret information that they were staying in a hotel in Kangarapadi, Thrikakkara, the shadow team of City Metro reached the spot and subdued the accused by force. The drugs were brought to Kerala through friends in places like Goa and Bengaluru.
