THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI on Monday stated that there is no need to praise the Muslim League and that there is currently no decision on the expansion of the Left Front. However, CPM state secretary MV Govindan reiterated his praise for the League yesterday.
Speaking to the channels, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran said that he did not know the circumstances behind MV Govindan's statement praising the League. "Muslim League is not the old league. The League is now in talks with the extremists. However, Muslim League is not a communal party like Popular Front or SDPI. There is now unity in the UDF following MV Govindan's words of praise for League," Kanam said.
"Along with saying that the Congress corrected themselves following the stance of the Muslim League on the Governor issue, it can also be said that the Congress has re-examined its stand. It is up to the League to clarify its position. They were a secular party. After the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the League gradually changed. This is the result of the change caused by the majority communalism among the Muslim community. The communist parties should understand the position of the League and take a stand based on it. In Kerala, BJP is not the main enemy. When LDF and UDF are fighting, we should be careful to make sure that BJP should not get stronger," he added.
