Vigilance raid uncovers Rs.1.25 lakhs from Sub Registrar offices

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a surprise raid conducted by the Vigilance in Sub Registrar offices, an amount of Rs.1.25 lakhs was recovered without source, including Rs.12,670 hidden among the files. The amount was recovered in the operation dubbed ‘Operation Panjikiran 2’, which was spread over 52 offices. The amount included the money brought by document writers to give to the employees.

At Mavelikara Sub Registrar office, an amount of Rs.47,250 was seized from title deed writers, when the office timing was about to close. At Manjeshwaram office, Rs.18,000 was confiscated from two document writers. At Kozhikode Kakkodi Rs.16,000 was recovered from one agent, at Kanjirappally Rs.17,040 was recovered from the employees, Kozhikode Chevayur Rs.6,200 was recovered, from Kozhikode Sub Registrar office Rs.1,100, from Malappuram Edakara Rs.1870 was recovered.

At Neyyattinkara office, Rs.15,000 was found in the bank account of the attender and Rs.10,000 was found to be sent to the clerk’s account by document writers using Google Pay. It was also found that the same staff from the office of the document writers were brought as witnesses to register the title.
