Governor not invited for CM’s Christmas lunch as it would be an inconvenience to guests

cm

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will host a Christmas lunch at 2.30 pm today. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had hosted a Christmas feast last week. However, the Governor is yet to be invited to this feast. The Governor had invited the chief minister and other ministers to the banquet hosted but they failed to attend. The lunch will be held at the Mascot Hotel in the capital city.

The reason cited for not inviting the governor to the feast is that the protocol must be followed in the event where the governor attends, and this will cause difficulties for the guests attending the lunch. However, when Justice P Sadasivam was the Governor, he was regularly invited to the chief minister's banquets.

There is a constant spat between the governor and the government for a long time. The Governor organized a banquet and had invited the chief minister to put an end to this. However, the chief minister not attending the feast and the governor not inviting for the lunch will only lead to further estrangement. The governor was disturbed by the government's action of not inviting him for the Onam week celebrations.
