Thanka Anki procession sets off from Aranmula; reception in 25 places

PATHANAMTHITTA: The ceremonial procession carrying the sacred golden attire, Thanka Anki, for the mandalapuja at Sabarimala set off from the Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula Friday morning.

The procession held in the presence of hundreds of devotees were attended by Travancore Devaswom Board president advocate Ananda Gopan, devaswom members, former president A Padma Kumar, devaswom commissioner B S Prakash and many others.

The Thanka Anki procession will travel 120 km till Sannidhanam after according rousing receptions at 65 places. There will be a reception in 25 places. Will rest at Nedumprayar Thevalassery Temple by evening. Will leave tomorrow and will rest at Omalloor Rakthakanda Swamy Temple in the evening. On the third day will rest at Konni Muringamangalam Temple and on the last day at Perunad Temple. Will reach Sannidhanam on the fourth day of mandalapuja. Sabarimala tantri Kantararu Rajivararu and Melshanti will jointly receive the Thanka Anki. Mandalapuja is on the afternoon of December 27. The deity will be adorned with the Thanga Anki prior to the Mandalapuja.
