NEW DELHI: After the new variant of Covid-19 found in China got detected in India, strict measures to prevent the spread of the disease have resumed. As part of this, Covid testing will begin at the airports from today. Random samples of international travelers will be taken.
Two percent of passengers will be tested. Those selected at random do not have to pay for the test. Thermal scanning facility has been provided at the airports. However, the Centre has informed that Covid certificate has not been made mandatory for those arriving from abroad. The central government had issued guidelines to the states to prevent the spread of Covid. People with respiratory issues should be monitored at the district level. It is also suggested to arrange adequate testing facilities at the district level.
Capacity of existing health systems in hospitals should be inspected. Instructions have been issued to avoid crowding and ensure ventilation in gatherings. States have been instructed to intensify vaccine distribution and follow the Covid guidelines.
