Loan fraud case; Videocon Group Chairman Venugopal Dhoot arrested by CBI

NEW DELHI: Videocon Group chairman Venugopal Dhoot has been arrested in ICICI loan fraud case. The CBI action comes after the arrest of ICICI bank former CEO Chandra Kochhar and husband Deepak Kochhar.

The CBI arrest was in a case alleging irregularities of Rs 3000 crore in the loan provided. Chandra and Deepak Kochhar are being questioned. This was followed by Venugopal Dhoot’s arrest.

The CBI had accused the Kochhars of criminal conspiracy and fraud in 2012 for providing a Rs 3,250 crore loan to leading electronics, oil, and gas company Videocon Group. Chanda Kochhar was removed from the post of CEO and Managing Director of ICICI Bank in October 2018 following the incident.
