WAYANAD: The mission team tranquilized P M 2 elephant that created panic in Bathery. It was tranquilized in Kuppadi forest area. The elephant was under observation since yesterday. The elephant will be shifted to the elephant enclosure in Muthanga.
The violent elephant Pandalur Makhna (P M 2), that killed two people and destroyed around 100 houses in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, reached Sultan Bathery two days ago. The elephant attacked Thampy alias Subair Kutty while he was walking on the road. Kutty suffered a heavy blow on his back. The elephant tried to grab him with its trunk but the handrail blocked it and saved his life. The elephant stationed on the road for several hours, was later sent to the forest with great effort. The elephant that entered the forest moved towards Kuppadi first mile area yesterday morning, but by afternoon, it stationed in Pazhupathur forest area adjacent to the residential area.
The chief wildlife warden ordered to tranquilize the elephant and shift to the elephant enclosure in Muthanga.
