MM Keeravani, who composed the music for the song, received the award for Best Original Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Keeravani's son Kala Bhairava and Rahul Siplingunj sang the superhit song.
In 2009, AR Rahman won the Golden Globe award through the film 'Slum Dog Millionaire'. But this is the first time an Indian film in a regional language won the Golden Globe. Keeravani won the award after beating the competition from famous singers like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
