ALAPPUZHA: CPM Alappuzha South area centre member AP Sona has been expelled from the party for storing nude pictures and videos of female co-workers on his phone. The action was taken based on the report prepared by two-member commission appointed by district leadership.

The decision was taken at the CPM district secretariat meeting held yesterday. The commission report was accepted by the district secretariat. This will be reported to the South area committee.

The enquiry was held by A. Mahindran and G. Rajamma, who are the members of the district secretariat. Sona was beaten up by the locals for trying to capture the private visuals of a girl.

When the locals checked the mobile phone that fell to the ground, they found other videos. There were videos of 34 women from Alappuzha and Ambalappuzha on his phone. A section of the CPM informed this to state secretariat member minister Saji Cherian without filing a police complaint. The state leadership intervened and appointed the enquiry commission. The action was taken based on direct interviews with over 30 women and the digital evidence.
