PALA: Kerala Congress (M) says that they will not accept CPM nominated Adv. Binu Pulikkakkandam as the chairman of Pala municipality. Mani group is of the stance that the CPM can suggest any other person. Mani group's protest comes as the submission of nominations for the chairmanship election is about to begin today.

It was decided to select Adv Binu Pulikkakkandam as the chairman candidate in the CPM district office meeting held in Kottayam. The representative of Mani group rejected the CPM’s stance in the front-level meeting held later. Minister Vasavan, CPM district secretary AV Russell and Lalichan George disagreed with this. CPM openly said that they do not want the chairmanship if Binu is not selected. Following this, the discussion didn’t progress. District secretary AV Russell reached Pala by afternoon and informed the stance of Kerala Congress to local leaders. But no final decision was taken. Then it was agreed to announce the decision with the knowledge of the state leadership.
