THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that those who went fishing from the Kerala coast should turn back today and return to the safe coast as the influence of the extreme low pressure formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to reach the Kanyakumari coast.

Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar, Tamil Nadu coast, and South West Bay of Bengal are not recommended for fishing under any circumstances as strong winds and bad weather conditions are expected from January 31 to February 4 due to the influence of low pressure.

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning for very strong winds that may gust up to 45 to 55 km per hour and on some occasions up to 65 km per hour. Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Geromic George has informed that no one should go fishing from the Kerala coast until the Central Meteorological Department's warning changes.
