LUCKNOW: Gujarat Titans registered their second consecutive win of the IPL season by defeating the Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets in a clinical chase. Pursuing a target of 165 runs, the Titans reached their goal in 18.4 overs with only three wickets down. The victory was anchored by captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, whose half-centuries made the task look effortless for the former champions.

The Gujarat innings faced an early setback when opener Sai Sudharshan was dismissed for 15 runs off 14 balls. While the team score stood at 45 during this initial phase, the momentum shifted decisively as Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler came together for the second wicket. The pair shared a dominant 84-run partnership off just 58 deliveries, effectively taking the game away from Lucknow. This crucial stand finally broke in the 15th over when Gill departed for a well-made 56 off 40 balls. Buttler followed shortly after, scoring 60 off 37 balls, leaving the team just a few runs short of the target. Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia then showed great composure, contributing unbeaten scores of 21 and 10 respectively to guide the team home without further loss.

Earlier in the day, the Lucknow Super Giants struggled to find momentum and were restricted to 164 for eight in their 20 overs. Opener Aiden Markram provided a brisk start with 30 runs off 21 balls, but the rest of the batting order failed to capitalise on it. Significant contributions were scarce as Mitchell Marsh, captain Rishabh Pant, and Abdul Samad all fell after making brief starts. The middle order, including Ayush Badoni and Mukul Chaudhary, could not break free against a disciplined Gujarat attack. George Linde added a quick 16, while a late unbeaten cameo from Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan helped push the total past 160.

The bowling performance for Gujarat was spearheaded by Prasidh Krishna, who dismantled the Lucknow lineup with a superb four-wicket haul. He received strong support from Ashok Sharma, who claimed two wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj chipped in with a wicket each to keep the scoring rate under control throughout the innings.
