BEIJING: The youth in China are not interested in getting married, especially men. Due to this, the population is going down and the government fears that this lack of interest among the youth will soon turn China into a country with elderly people. That is why the authorities have come up with ways to influence the youth to increase the population.

Several colleges have come up with a unique plan of ‘love break’ to support the national concern. In the initial phase, seven colleges in China have decided to give a full week’s holiday to the students to find love. The authorities want the students to learn to love nature, love life and enjoy love through enjoying the spring break. They also provide full support and encouragement to the students.

The students are also given homework including writing diaries, making travel videos and keeping track of personal development. They will be given grades based on this evaluation.

China had recently cracked down the custom of bride prices to boost birth rates. The decision was taken after they found out that the reason for the increase in the number of unmarried people over thirty was bride place. This action has had some benefits which prompted them to implement love break. China, which has the largest population in the world, recorded its lowest population decline in six decades last year.
